MACTSTACOPRIME has partnered with the Benin Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture (BENCCIMA) and the Edo State government on a one week trade fair in Benin City.
Secretary to Edo State Government (SSG), Professor Julius Ihonvbere, who represented Governor Adams Oshiomhole at the fair, said his administration was planning to privatize or resuscitate ailing industries across the state, just as he said his administration has partnered with the Bank of Industry (BoI) to create N500 million soft facility for small and medium scale enterprises.
With the theme “Great People, Bountiful Resources, and Boundless Opportunities,” the governor said his administration has simplified land acquisition challenges, which he said has been a challenge for investors nationwide.
He noted that the process of land documentation in Edo State could now be done in 48 hours while Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) could now be received within 30 days.
He also disclosed that the state government has concluded plans for the construction of industrial, furniture and specialized market for industrial goods.
The governor added that the state government would periodically adjust its policy frame work in order to meet global standard.
Earlier in his address, President of BENCCIMA, Andy Edobor, commended the state government for supporting the event but appealed for the completion of the permanent site for the BENCCIMA.
He said the event could not hold at the chamber’s permanent site in the state capital because “there are no basic infrastructural facilities at the complex, adding that “adjoining roads to the trade fair ground have become dilapidated and unmotorable”
He called on the government to held build the complex with expected facilities.
Chairman of the Trade Fair Steering Committee, Austin Atakpu, called on manufacturers, entrepreneurs and Small, Medium Enterprises (SMEs) operators across the country to invest in the state because of enabling environment provided by the government.
